Hattie – 18 month old female Greyhound

Hattie is an 18 month old greyhound girl who was surplus to her owner’s requirements and as such has never raced. She has a lovely brindle coat that is satin soft to the touch.

Hattie is a very quiet, timid little girl who definitely needs some work on boosting her confidence. She has had a rather restricted puppyhood, having spent all of it in kennels, never even leaving it to go to the racetrack, and because of that she is unsure of new environments and situations.

Please don’t let this deter you, however, as Hattie has oodles of potential. She is a young dog and once she knows you she is affectionate and very eager to please. With the right kind of owner Hattie will blossom into a completely different hound, confident and relaxed in her environment. She will need someone with a patient heart who will introduce her to life outside of kennels, but not push her before she’s ready. She is already steadily improving in her foster home.

Hattie gets on very well with the dogs she is sharing her foster home with, and we feel she would come on in leaps and bounds if she had another, self assured dog to live with and learn from. As she has never raced, she may be cat trainable and this is being tested right now to see if she is suitable to live in a home with cats.

Like most greyhounds, Hattie will not need a huge amount of exercise. She will be content with two 20min walks a day and perhaps a chance to stretch her legs offlead in a secure area once or twice a week.

In general greyhounds are calm, mannerly dogs that are well used to being handled. They can fit very well in to a wide range of different lifestyles and usually adjust to the home life very quickly. Their soft, easy going nature often makes them ideal to live in a family with children, while their love of lazing around and low exercise requirements can make them perfect for the elderly. Greyhounds also don’t shed as much as other more popular dog breeds and this can make them suitable to live with allergy sufferers.

Hattie is now in a foster home in Norfolk , UK where she is getting all the TLC she needs. Her progress will be updated soon. We don’t think it will be too long before she starts to play as all puppys should. She is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, de-flea’d and wormed and a homecheck will be required as part of the adoption procedure.

If you are interested in adopting Hattie, please email me on tamakin_84@yahoo.co.uk for our adoption application and information pack. Thanks!
