Meet Hero, a dog who lives up to his name (truly). This fabulous Lurcher boy has been horrendously abused in his 5 years of life. Hero is a lovely boy, all the staff, and people who have met him, have fallen for him.
He came into our care after being shot at point-blank range in the side of the head (one of the vets thinks he may have has a shogun cartridge taped to his head and lit, but the police feel he was shot). Whichever, its the most horrendous abuse. He also had a massive wound to the back of his neck.
It really was touch and go as to whether he would survive, and if he did what damage there would be. Thanks to the incredible skill and dedication from the vets and nurses, Hero pulled through. Amazingly he suffered no lasting damage and has made a full physical recovery.
He is nervous and very shy of new people, but not aggressive, he has never once shown any aggression despite all the treatments he has endured. But with those he knows, he is so affectionate.
Hero probably lived in a shed before and was used for rabbiting at night. He loves his new found comforts. He has been very clean, but he doesn’t have access to a whole house, so may not be 100% house trained at first, so would be best with someone around to teach him a routine.
He seems OK with other dogs, but his face has many scars, so he may have been in a situation where his experience with other dogs hasn’t been ideal, maybe a single bowl of food to share etc. So we would prefer a home as an only dog, or with a very placid large dog. Certainly not one of many.
Hero loves the car and walks beautifully on a lead. He has been fine with the other dogs he has met out and about, but very nervous of people, especially men, though he does has some men in his circle of trusted people who he loves.
Hero is near Kidwelly, South Wales, if you would like to be considered to adopt him, and be his Hero, please email.
Please note all homes will be vetted prior to a meeting.
