Higgs is a gorgeous Podenco who was abandoned in Seville, possibly by hunters, and was in a terrible state when he was found. Sadly when he was rescued he then got passed about to several other people before our volunteer in Seville managed to get him to safety. He then spent over a year in kennels before he came over to the UK to be fostered. Despite his sad past he has really blossomed and is now a gorgeous healthy boy, who has gained in confidence and is very sweet and loving! He is great with other dogs who he lives with . He is a typical hound and loves a good run, but then likes his siesta’s. He just really needs his own sofa and loving family.
This is what his foster family say about him: “Higgs is such a sweet and loyal boy, He is is fully house trained and although won’t sit on command his training has come on beautifully and will follow most commands given to him. He loves a good game of ball and brings it back beautifully. Higgs spends his time running around our field and then coming in for cuddles and loves having a good sleep after some really good exercise. I have not walked him out of our field off lead but am sure that he will be good with his recall as it is great now (unless our resident suicidal squirrel is around).
Higgs needs to live in a home with no small children (I would say below 10) as he is very protective of his own space and does not like being surprised while he is relaxing. He also needs to be left alone when he has a treat, although it is possible to take the treat off him if you do it in the right manner which babies don’t understand. However he is great with children and really adores them, he will just be better with older children as he does like his own space! Higgs will make someone a beautiful companion as he really loves company but can be left at home without showing any anxiety. ”
Please give this lovely boy his chance, he will be so grateful and whoever adopts him will have a very special friend for life. Higgs is about 3 years old. He is fostered in Northampton.
