Holly – 2 year old female Chihuahua

Two year old Holly a Chihuahua who is being fostered in Cardiff, South Wales. She is nervous but she loves snuggling – under blankets, dressing gowns, cardigans, duvets – she’s not fussy as long as she can snuggle! She wags her tail when her foster mum comes home and gives teeny kisses. She is a very sweet girl, who play bows and wags her tail when you take her out or pick her up. She only barks a little when the other dogs in the house bark.

Holly is a timid little thing – she is nervous with her foster dog siblings but will either ignore them or stay out of their way – although she will lie by them on the sofa when sleeping. Holly mostly ignores cats and small furries but did try to play with one cat – play bowed and tried her best but the cat wasn’t interested! On the lead, Holly is a bit unsure and currently she walks behind her foster mum – very slowly! This is being worked on. She is a quiet, well behaved dog

Holly has not been crated apart from when she shook with nerves when she first arrived. She has been left alone for a short time – with other dogs for company. No destructive tendencies have been shown and she does not seem to want to jump the garden fences. She has not learnt how to play with toys yet and shows no dominant tendencies.

Holly is more than happy to be touched – she loves to play chase – especially when you go to pick her up! Holly is very good at the vets although she is nervous. Although Holly is nervous with humans she will have a snuggle with anyone. She is sociable with children but has only met older children so far. Toilet training is a work in progress. She is not aggressive with humans but will growl a little at another dog if she is sitting on her foster mum’s lap and the other dog asks for a fuss.

Holly needs a home that can give her the affection that she craves and is prepared to give her the time that she needs to feel safe. As she is so nervous we would not rehome her with young children – older children that understand nervous dogs would be best. She would be well suited to an older couple who would love short walks and lots of snuggles! She is a very nervous little one but in the right home she will settle and blossom.

Holly is up to date with her flea treatment, vaccinations is wormed and is micro-chipped. She is neutered. Prospective adopters will be expected to travel to meet her in her foster home in South Wales.
