Iris is a 1 year old female Jack Russell Terrier Cross. Iris is a rescue from Cyprus who is currently staying in Fareham whilst she looks for her forever home. Here is a little about her from her foster mum. “Iris is an absolutely sweet little dog. She is very affectionate and still has a lot of puppy behaviours- she wants to play with everything! Since she first came to us, she has been a really calm girl, but can get a little over excited at times, especially when playing tug. She loves being made a fuss of, and will smother you with kisses. She is getting used to her lead, but does tend to pull. She is a fast learner, and has learned to sit and wait (most times!). She responds very well to treats, so this is definitely the key to her training. We haven’t noticed any food aggression, she lets us take her bowl away if she still has food in it.
Where she lived in Cyprus, she was the only dog, so is a bit nervous around other dogs. She wants mainly to play with them, so she would do well with a very calm, patient dog, or even as an only dog. She tends to ignore other dogs she meets on walks, but does bark quite a lot at our resident dogs. She has been very friendly towards all the people she meets, and loves being the centre of attention. I understand she came from a home that had children in it. She is not cat friendly and will chase and bark at them, but this is to be expected from her breed, and never having been around cats before.
Iris is house trained, sleeps well at night, either on the floor in her dog bed, or very happily in the bed next to you! She seems to have settled really well, considering all that she has been through to get here. She will often go off and lay down on her own, so she doesn’t appear to have separation anxiety, however we have not yet left her alone. Her previous family did not crate train her, and let her have freedom of their house and garden. She is an amazing, lovable little dog, who would love to be in a home where she would get lots of attention and where she could sit on your lap and fall asleep. She loves her walks, and would need an active home, as she is still young. She is going to bring you a lot of love and happiness, and she has already stolen our hearts!” She has been neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. The minimum adoption donation for Iris is £275.
