Jack – 3 year old male Greyhound
This is Jack (and his teddy) – the most glorious and deserving boy you could ever wish to meet and only 3 years old. He is desperate for a home of his very own and someone to love. He is sweet, kind, gentle, loving and funny. Oh and did I mention playful? He loves to play with toys and if you throw him a ball he will bring it back to you! Don’t believe me? Check out the action shot below. What more could anyone want from such a beautiful young greyhound? He also walks very well on the lead and is great around all dogs.

Jack’s background is truly horrific – he is only still alive and in a safe rescue place by sheer luck. He was passed onto a 16 year old boy because his owner didn’t want him anymore but the young boy decided he didn’t want him either and didn’t know what to do with him so, decided the best way to get rid of him was to lock him in a shed and starve him to death. He very nearly succeeded. By a stroke of luck he came to a kind neighbour’s attention and they phoned GRWE. We scooped him up and took him into our care. When he came to us he was so emaciated he struggled to stand up and was so riddled with fleas that his gums were pale through lack of blood. When I bathed him the water from the shower ran with blood as the fleas on him died. He took 4 baths to get him resembling clean and he struggled to even keep standing but throughout it all he tried to wag his tail and he kissed me. He has never shown one minute’s distrust of people, despite everything. He just loves and wants to be loved.
He can get a little scared by loud noises so I wouldn’t want to home him with young children who like to let off steam but, other than that, he would happily slot in anywhere.
To know Jack is to love him – if you feel there is a place in your heart and your home for this very special boy, please get in touch.
