Jack – 10 year old male Border Terrier cross Lakeland Terrier

This is Jake and he is a 10 year old male Border Terrier cross Lakeland Terrier and what a handsome little fellow he is too! He’s currently in an Oldies Club foster home in Stevenage, Hertfordshire waiting for someone to offer him a permanent home. Jack’s fosterers tell us that he’s a very friendly little fellow and it didn’t take long for him to settle in. After only a couple of days he had made himself at home.

Jack is happy to be left alone for a few hours at a time and he often just sits waiting patiently on his mat or has a little peek out of the window to see if you’re coming home. He’s always pleased to see you and gives you a very enthusiastic greeting on your return. If he’s unsure of visitors to the house he’ll bark to let you know, but soon quietens down when told.

Jack will bark at other dogs, but generally he’s fine and likes to go over for a sniff. He hasn’t lived with another dog before, but his fosterers think he’d be fine if he could be given a gentle introduction.

Jack loves the attention he gets from children. We were told that his previous owner had young grandchildren and Jack was a real star with them. He currently lives with two boys, aged 12 and 15, and often comes into contact with others, aged 7 and 11. He’s always very happy to have some fuss and attention and will roll over on his back with his paws in the air to enjoy a good old tummy rub.

Jack loves to go for walks and he’s good on the lead. He does pull a little to begin with, but walks to the side of you once he’s calmed down. He responds well to his name too.

Jack is a good traveller so he’ll make an excellent companion for anyone who enjoys holidaying with their canine friend. He loves to sit looking out of the window and sometimes he’ll bark at passing dogs, but that’s just all part of the fun!

Jack enjoys playing and is particularly fond of chasing a tennis ball around. He enjoys doing this more when he’s inside the house, probably because when he’s out and about he has other things to hold his attention.

Jack would be happy living in a house or ground floor flat as long as he has an enclosed garden area in which to play and explore. A family environment with sensible children would be great for him and he’d like someone who can take him for regular walks.

Jack only has a couple of things he doesn’t like. He isn’t keen on cats and he’s also not happy about being touched near the base of his tail. We believe this is due to a previous vet visit when he had treatment on his anal passage.

Jack has some moles on his body, but the vet has advised that they aren’t causing any problems and therefore don’t need removing. Jack has been neutered, microchipped, vaccinated and flea and worm-treated.
