Jake – 6 year old male Lurcher

Jake is a 6 year old male Lurcher, landed in our care a while ago after the sad death of his elderly owner. Jake is the most lovely Collie cross Greyhound boy, stunningly beautiful and shiny and also missing a tail! Jake is typically energetic of the breed and we have no idea how an elderly person coped with his needs and wonder if he had not been regularly exercised? At the kennels Jake does in the main get on well with all of the dogs as long as introductions are handled well. Jake can be a little reactive out on walks however we have found that if you are confident with your walking abilities this does not happen, he needs someone who keeps on top of him and assures him they have it all in control. Out walking in an area without squirrels and off lead dogs Jake walks like a total dream. Jake did spend some time in a multi dog foster home and got on well with all of the dogs both male and female bar one of the males, who was known to not always accept new additions easily so Jake may have been put on the back foot.

Jake would be best suited to a loving, experienced home with a female companion or we feel could quite happily exist as an only dog as long as he was included in day to day activities. Jake is a real people dog and we feel could safely co exist with dog savvy children 8 years and upwards. Jake is NOT cat friendly. This lad really is great fun and such a cuddle monster and one of the firm favourites with us in the kennels. We really hope that someone sees past the *black* and *middle aged* labels and offers this fabulous fun loving dog a home. He is completely wasted in kennels. Jake is housetrained and travels like a dream.

Jake is vaccinated, kc vaccinated, de flead, de wormed, microchipped and castrated and can be rehomed nationally subject to a successful homevisit being carried out.

Greyhound Gap
Greyhound Gap is a small independent charity set up to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome greyhounds and lurchers who find themselves in a ‘put to sleep’ situation in UK pounds. Funded almost entirely by donations, we rehome around 150 dogs each year. We can have around 40-50 dogs at any one time in our kennels based in Kidsgrove, Stoke on Trent and a further 30-40 in foster homes. Greyhound Gap operates on a national basis so our dogs can be homed throughout the UK subject to a suitable home visit being carried out. If you are interested in adopting a dog from Greyhound Gap, we would ask that in the first instance you could take a few moments to complete our pre-adoption questionnaire if you have not already done so: http://www.greyhoundgap.org.uk/our-dogs/pre-adoption-questionnaire
