Jake - 2 year old male Jack Russell Terrier

Jake (ref 57d) is a handsome little 2 year old white and brown male Jack Russell Terrier. He was brought to Derby RSPCA Centre because his owners decided it was no longer realistic for them to own a dog. Poor little Jake is very timid at the moment because of losing his home and his owners. By nature he is a friendly chap, but he finds being in the kennels very upsetting and can seem rather scared of friendly strangers at first, though he nevertheless adjusts to new faces fairly swiftly.

When he’s not feeling too timid, he loves to play just as much as any other dog and is especially fond of playing tug. He is house-trained, already knows at least 4 commands and could probably learn a fair few more because he’s a bright little dog.

Jake would be suitable for an active and dog-experienced household where any children were aged 15+ and where he would be treated with care, love and understanding. He is a quiet little dog who doesn’t like noisiness, rowdy behaviour or sudden fast movements because they frighten and unsettle him, so he needs a new home where people will allow for this and be gentle and considerate towards him.

He needs to be rehomed as the only pet in the house, because he doesn’t enjoy the company of other dogs at all and, being aTerrier, would be liable to chase cats and rabbits etc. If you can offer a calm and loving home to this nervous little dog, provide him with all the exercise and interesting walks he needs and help him build his confidence back up again, you’ll win yourself a grateful lifelong friend and playmate with notably twinkly eyes and bags of personality.

The bottom may have dropped out of his life at present, but with enough love and understanding, there’s no reason why little Jake shouldn’t enjoy a very long and happy life with his new owners.
