Jessie - 8 year old female Bedlington Terrier cross Whippet

Meet the beautiful Jessie, she is an 8 year old Bedlington Terrier cross Whippet who landed in our care today. Jessie has come from a family home where up until recently she happily co existed with a Lurcher male and a young female. At Christmas Jessie was taken ill with pyometra, was spayed and since then has began to fight with the other female dog in the house.

Jessie will need a firm but fair home, she would be best suited to someone who was at home most of the time in an only dog situation OR with a male companion. Even by Bedlington Whippet standards Jessie is quite small. Jessie has lived in the home with cats and has been totally fine with them she pays them no attention at all and has also lived with older children and gets on with them well.

Jessie’s perfect home would be with a retired couple who could continue to lavish her through her middle age and into senior years. She walks well on leash BUT can be a little barky with dogs as she is passing she does though respond to a firm no.

Jessie is house-trained, and settles well after her walks, she has been off leash but her recall has been described as a bit hit and miss dependant on what she has in mind at the time. She also has to be watched occasionally with strange female dogs as she may put her paw onto their back and push them down trying to be slightly dominant.

All in all Jessie is a lovely biddable little dog who im sure with guidelines and boundaries put into place straight away will be no trouble to anyone. Jessie is spayed and will be micro-chipped and vaccinated.

Although Jessie is in kennels as we have her full history we will be willing to rehome her directly from a kennel environment. She is currently in Stoke on Trent and potential adopters would need to be willing to travel and meet with her.
