Jet – 12 year old male Labrador Retriever
Who could resist those big brown eyes? They belong to Jet, a calm and well-behaved 12 year old black Labrador Retriever who is in an Oldies Club foster home in Berwick-upon-Tweed, Northumberland, waiting for someone to offer him a permanent home.
Jet came into our care due to a change of circumstances for his former owner. He’s a lovely, laid-back gentleman and it only took him a few days to settle at his foster home. Jet loves human company but he can be left for a few hours with no problems.
Jet is a very friendly, sociable boy who gets on well with dogs and he isn’t interested in chasing cats or livestock. His previous owner told us that he has lived with a cat and that he loves children too. Jet does have stiff legs though so he wouldn’t want to be pulled about or pestered.

Good-natured Jet walks well on the lead. Off lead he doesn’t go far from you and he comes back when called as long as he can see or hear you. He needs help to get into the boot of the car but once in he is quiet and settles down to enjoy the journey.

His favourite things are relaxing in his bed having Labrador dreams, and going for relaxed Labrador style walks. Jet’s perfect home will have someone around plenty of the time so that he can be their loyal companion. Due to his weak back legs, he needs a home where there are no steps or stairs to negotiate.
Jet has been vet-checked since coming into our care. He is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, wormed and flea-treated, and he has had a dental clean. He’s on a painkiller (Meloxidyl) for his stiff legs and he will probably need this on an ongoing basis. He has a few fatty cysts but these don’t need any treatment at the moment. He’s lost some weight since he’s been in our care but he needs to shed a few more pounds, especially as this will help his legs.
Jet’s foster carer sums him up for us:
Jet is a lovely old gentleman and an affectionate companion. He makes a grumbly noise that sounds like he’s talking, usually when you make a fuss of him. He’s obedient, doesn’t seem to have any vices and enjoys his walks, but he needs to take life at a steady pace.
