Jimmy is a beautiful little dark brindle Staffordshire Bull Terrier lad who has a real zest for life! Jimmy lived with his previous family since 8 weeks old however due to circumstantial changes sadly he is looking for a new home. Jimmy is a very active dog and is looking for a home that can give him the time and energy he needs. He thoroughly enjoys his walks and is very good on the lead. He likes to explore when out and about and is keen to use his nose to take in all the wonderful smells this world has to offer. He is friendly towards strangers when out and about, and will mostly ignore other dogs. He is not keen on bigger dogs, especially males if they come bounding up to him. He has been happily lead walked regularly next to the other female family dog he showed more interest in his surroundings than her.
Jimmy is excellent with his food, he eats well and takes treats very nicely. He hasn’t shown much interest in toys, however given the opportunity to play he seems like a stuffed toy or rag toy may be a good choice of activity. Jimmy would also benefit from mental stimulation so a home where his new owners are willing to invest some time in basic obedience would be perfect.
Jimmy has previously lived with three children aged from infant to 6 years old. He would be well suited to a family with children to suit his active needs however Jimmy would be better suited with children aged 8 and over, as his bundles of energy can sometimes make him boisterous. He has also lived with another female family dog, however would be better suited to being the only dog in the home. Jimmy has not lived with cats, and has not been cat tested.
Jimmy has a great love of people and craves attention. Sometimes this can make him a little over excited and his energy levels would benefit from some basic training. He knows how to sit, and give paw but further training on how to settle and how to socialise better with other dogs would give Jimmy the opportunity to meet some regular play mates. Jimmy can be left home-alone without any problems but would love to be rehomed to a family who wouldn’t leave him for longer than a few hours. This could however be built up over time as he gets the right level of exercise and companionship he needs.
Jimmy can be worried by loud noises such as fireworks, and tall items such as the ironing board or ladders. Dogwatch would be happy to offer advice on how to desensitise Jimmy around these fears, and we are working on these in his foster home.
Jimmy is a loving boy, and is looking for his next chapter to begin. Can you give this boy a home?
