Joey is a playful and fun-loving 18-month old Saluki with a beautiful face full of expression, who is being fostered in Cardiff, South Wales. He has proved to be resilient having had his from leg amputated but is recovering well. Joey is very happy to see people he knows and lets them know it! Joey loves people he knows and, as long as new people respect his space and don’t shove their hands in his face when in a strange environment, he is quick to trust and becomes a firm friend. Joey is fine with other dogs and could live with another dog with introductions.
Joey has not been tested on cats but due to his breed he would prefer a home without a cat. Joey behaves well in the home. He is house trained and has no destructive tendencies. He likes his crate with a blanket over it.
Joey loves playing with dogs of all breeds and sizes. He has excellent play skills. He is however lead reactive to dogs on walks and also fence-reactive. Yes, Joey needs to continue his behaviour modification programme: practicing calmness, confidence and focus around other dogs. Joey needs a home with a predictable routine, not too chaotic. His family will need to have time to train, play and interact with Joey. He is likely to do well with another dog, ideally a sociable but easy-going female.
Joey is neutered, chipped, vaccinated and up to date with his flea and worming treatment. Potential adopters will be expected to travel to meet him in his kennels in Cardiff.
If you are interested in adopting Joey please read about our rehoming process and complete a Pre-Adoption form ( link here ) and one of our adoption coordinators will contact you for a chat.
