Katia – 2-3 year old female Cross-Breed

Katia is a 2-3 year old female medium sized crossbreed. She is fully sighted. She spent such a long time at the shelter in Romania, and broke our hearts when she was photographed time and again saying goodbye to her friends travelling to new lives. We decided she had to have her chance at a home too! She is a very loving and willing dog who has bonded with her foster Mum in particular. She is obviously a bright and sociable dog. She doesn’t chew or destroy, and has been no trouble when left or over night. You don’t hear a peep out of her. She just wants lots of love. She can be jealous of attention, and as such would be better with slightly older children. She is fine with other dogs who are not afraid to put her in her place. She has been perfect the children 6 and 9 in her foster home and will cuddle up with them on the sofa.

She seems house-trained and we have no trouble during the day, although she has had the odd accident at night. She does seem frightened of being outside for long and the slightest noise sends her running in. She shows no desire to leave the garden. She has no concept of collar and lead but this is being worked on. She jumps up but sits down when you tell her. She is also good at sitting, stay and will give a paw. She is a super girl, no doubt about it. She need a home that will be gentle with her and not expect her to be perfect. She needs work but will be an ideal family pet. She should be fine with slightly older kids. She would probably like a companion of similar size and seems happiest with our male Jack Russell Terrier. She wants to play with him but hes a bit scared of her size! She seems to slightly prefer women to men as she took a while to get used to my husband. Most of the day she is happy to snooze on the sofa.

Katia is microchipped and spayed and holds a PETS passport. If you are interested in offering Katia the home she’s been waiting for for so long, please email  BDRUKrehoming@yahoo.com. A homecheck and adoption donation apply. She is currently in foster in Northumberland.
