Katya is a 7 year old female Elkhound. She is currently on a diet and will need to stay on one for some time, her portions should be watched as the breed are prone to weight gain. Apart from her weight Kayta is a lovely friendly girl who is a favourite with the volunteers. She’s been groomed and really enjoyed it and was no problem at all. Most of the year they moult but two or three times a year they ‘blow their coat’ which is why Katyas coat looks patchy because she is blowing her coat at the moment and requires more brushing than normal to help loosen and remove the dead fur. She gets on well with all dogs.
The Elkhound as a breed are loyal and intelligent. They are also known to be quite extrovert and good natured although because they are so independent, they can be a little stubborn at times which is a very Spitz-type trait. Katya won’t live with cats. Vaccinated, wormed, micro chipped, spayed and vet checked.
