Kez – 3 year old female Cross-Breed
Kez (ref 27d) is an immensely lovable fawn 3 year old female cross-breed, about the same size as a Labrador. She was brought to Derby RSPCA Centre by an RSPCA Inspector. She is a cruelty-case dog, which is why her face is so marked and scarred.

If she woofs at you when you look at her in her kennel, it is only because she doesn’t know why you are looking at her and wants to know what’s going on. She has a very sunshiny nature and is a real pleasure to be with. She walks beautifully on the lead and takes most things in her stride in a calm and confident way. When meeting people for the first time, she can be rather shy and needs a little reassurance, but as long as people are gentle with her she will quickly warm to them.

Kez loves being stroked and made a fuss of and thinks being groomed is wonderful. She loves to be with people she trusts and to be part of whatever’s going on, so she needs to go to a new home where there will normally be somebody around. She gets rather anxious and upset when she’s left all on her own.
Kez needs a home with active, experienced dog-owners who will see to it that she gets lots of fresh air and exercise to keep her healthy and happy. She would be suitable for a quiet, calm household where any children were aged 15+ and where she would be the only pet. Like most dogs, she would be certain to chase cats and rabbits, but also she has learned from her own unhappy experience that there are some dogs in the world who bite other dogs in the face, so she distrusts all other dogs. Being the only dog in the home is essential.
Lovely Kez is a very bright and amiable dog, but her original owner didn’t devote much time to training her so she only knows 3 commands at present (‘Sit’, ‘Wait’ and ‘Over’) and doesn’t yet know how to play. However, she’s such a pleasant and obliging dog that it should be easy to train her and to introduce her gently and gradually to the idea of fun and games.
Kez really is an absolutely delightful, sweet and sparkling girl. All the staff and volunteers here love her very much.
