Lara is a beautiful 6 year old short haired French Shepherd (Beauceron) type girl. The Beauceron is a very uncommon French herding breed. Lara has no paperwork and we make this assessment based on appearance, temperament and behaviour. The Beauceron is a slow maturing and long lived breed, intelligent, quick to learn and easily trained. The breed often excels at agility and in obedience trials. Lara is a girl who is very eager to please and has quickly learned some basic commands. She is desperate for love and has probably not had much before coming into rescue but we don’t think she has been used as a guard dog, we believe she has previously lived in a home. She is a bright as a button lively girl who would do well in an active home where she could do pretty much any of the canine sports and also perform well in obedience. She is very switched on and tuned in to her people and is a really nice attentive girl.
Lara gets along with other dogs and she is fine with cats. She is very affectionate with people, including children, but at 30kg she is a big girl and she is bouncy and enthusiastic! We would not want to home her with young children because she may very well knock them over. Lara will need her regular walks like any other dog and she loves her toys and games, but we would ideally like to see her go into a home that is active because we think that is where she will really thrive and shine. She is the type of dog who will do anything for you and she needs the type of owner who will be a worthy leader. Lara is house trained and can be left for a few hours without any problems, she is not a barker and she is not destructive. She is a good eater and is not aggressive with food or toys. In short, Lara is a fabulous and stunning girl who will benefit from being in an active, dog savvy home where she can feel loved and secure.
Lara walks very nicely on the lead most of the time but needs ongoing training and a competent adopter because if she is distracted and pulls, she can be strong, but there is no malice in her. In time she will be excellent with recall because she is just so eager to please and doesn’t want to range too far away from you. She loves to cuddle up on the sofa for a tummy rub and is very gentle and loving. In excellent health with no known health issues. Lara is microchipped, neutered, fully vaccinated, up to date with flea and worm treatments and has a full passport. She did have the double hind dew claws typical of the Beauceron but these have been removed because they often get snagged and one had already been caught and injured.
Angel’s Kiss only uses kennels for immediate rescue and emergencies, all dogs advertised for adoption have been fostered, so they can be assessed and become familiar with the normal sights and sounds in a family and a household. It is with fosterers that these troubled souls learn what it is like to live in a home, sleep on a bed, eat a decent meal and know what it is to be loved. Fostering is the bridge from the old life to the new. Lara is in a foster home in Grantham. Angel’s Kiss homes dogs throughout the UK but potential adopters must be willing to travel to meet Lara at her foster home.
If you are interested in adopting Lara please get in touch with us through this website. The adoption fee is £200 and we always require a homecheck. This is done through a national network of rescue volunteers and usually does not take more than a few days to arrange.
