Lexi – 12 month old female Ibizan Hound (Podenco)

Lexi is a pretty Ibizan Hound (Podenco) girl. She will make a great addition to a family who want an active companion. She can live with children, cats and dogs. She is very playful and just loves going for a walk. Lexi is currently in a foster home, her foster Mom told us Lexi is a lovely, friendly, extrovert girl, with a great temperament . She is great in the house, we have not had one mistake. She loves the grandchildren, we have 6, from age 5-18, and she has won them all over! I think she must be used to children. She loves her food.

She is not destructive, and loves her walks, she is good with other dogs, and just wants to play, she loves catching the ball, and bringing it back. She is 25 inches (63.5 cm) at the shoulder, and strong and fit. Lexi is quite strong and does pull on her lead. She will need someone to help her with training and who is strong enough not to get pulled about by her! She is a kind, girl, she doesn’t have a nasty bone in her body. She is cat friendly, and just wants to play, sometimes rather too enthusiastically!

Background: A young podenco puppy was abandoned outside the gates of the Spanish shelter, they took her in and named her Dana. A week or so later another young podenco came up to the gates, she was crying and wanted to be let in! She followed the volunteers walking the shelter dogs, tried to get in their cars and when unsuccessful sat at the gates crying and trying to get in. Of course the gates were opened for her – it was immediately apparent that she knew Dana and the shelter presumed they were sisters. The new puppy was named Lexi, she must have tracked her sister down so they could be reunited. Dana has been adopted and Lexi is in a foster home happily waiting for her happy ever after.

Current location: In a foster home in Loughborough, Leicestershire. Foster Report: Having just had Lexy for a few days now she has settled in very well. I have found her brilliant in the house, good with children, I will probably be able to get her cat friendly. She loves my other dog here. She is very good natured & not at all snappy. She is thriving on her Natures Menu raw food, loves boiled egg, cottage cheese. She is very strong on the lead and so her new owner will need to be aware of this and she will be much happier with another dog.
