Libra - 2 year old female German Shepherd Dog
Libra is a 2 year old female German Shepherd who is fully vaccinated, wormed and flead, health checked and micro-chipped. She has just finished her season so can be spayed in 2-3 months time. Libra originally came into our care 8th May from a very unsavoury home where the conditions weren’t fit for a human let alone a dog.

She’s very small for her breed, our vet said she’s a miniature German Shepherd. She hadn’t really known much in life other than the flat she was kept in. Libra had been very badly neglected, her main problem was a skin condition whereby her skin was very sore and quite scabby under the fur and her ears were particularly affected, this could’ve be caused by mites (mange) or a flea allergy, there was some fur loss, and she was in a lot of discomfort and pain. She was on medicated shampoo and antibiotics.

Libra was rehomed to a wonderful home with 3 other dogs 5 weeks ago but sadly it hasn’t worked out, there was a problem whereby she was fixated and reactive to one of them in particular but only when outside which caused some incidents between the two, more information is available as it’s quite complex.
She is okay with some dogs but can be reactive to others, this is down to a lack of socialisation in her upbringing. Her previous adopter has worked hard with Libra and has put a lot of time into her socialisation and training, she is quite willing to speak to any new prospective adopter.
Despite this Libra is a lovely dog who is incredibly loyal and bonds very strongly. She is excellent in the home and very obedient. She’s very loving and brilliant with people. She will sit, go down, and also wait for her food when asked, her lead walking is much better, she’s a good traveller but prefers to be closer to you in the car! She is still slightly hand shy but this is likely to do with her previous ear problems. She is in very good health and fine condition, all her previous symptoms have gone.
Libras’ ideal home is with an experienced German Shepherd owner, a rural or semi rural area, No other pets and continued slow socialisation with other dogs, it would be a shame otherwise. A big garden so she can run and play, she can be rehomed with older children no problem as she enjoys company very much.
We will not rehome Libra to an owner that uses ‘old school’ training and techniques, she is a loving, gentle dog that has been through a lot in her short life, she responds very well to kind and understanding people and that’s the kind of owner she wants.
