Lloyd is a very fluffy Collie aged around seven years old. Lloyd is fostered Gt Yarmouth (FR001). Lloyd arrived into our care as one of our very special shut down dogs. He had spent a couple of years in a good private shelter but never came out from behind his kennel in the presence of people. Lloyd has been with us for a few weeks now and you will see from his pics that he is really starting to come out of himself and grow in confidence. At home he is still quite subdued and likes to lie in crates or corners but out on walks he is running and playing and living life.
Despite having built enough of a relationship with me to stay with me off lead on walks, Lloyd still sees no real point in fuss and affection from people. He will let me fuss him but doesn’t enjoy it and the expression on his face just simply begs the question “why do you insist on doing that?”. In time he will learn what human affection is all about and for now he is certainly learning that human hands give out treats and not abuse any more. This stunningly photogenic dog just needs a kind and patient home. He needs no time limits or target expectations, he just needs someone who will love him for who he is now and for who he will become in his own time.
Lloyd gets on perfectly well with other dogs but is not particularly interactive with them so could live with or without them. He doesn’t react at all to cats we see out on walks. He walks beautifully on a lead and is good off lead after a few weeks of bonding. Beneath the cautious exterior is a far more carefree dog just waiting to be unveiled. It won’t happen overnight but in a few months or a year I just know he is going to be a character worthy of the wait.
