Lucky

Lucky (ref 51d) is a very charming little black and white Border Collie male aged just 6 months old. He arrived at Derby RSPCA Centre when his last owners suddenly decided they no longer wanted to be bothered with owning a dog. In spite of having lost his home and his owners at such a very tender age, Lucky is a very happy and cheery little fellow who is an absolute joy to be with.

He is very friendly and playful - and like all Border Collies, he is a very clever dog indeed. His last owners don’t seem to have made any real efforts to give him any structured training, but he is such a very swift learner that he will easily be able to learn anything an owner might wish to teach him. He currently knows at least three commands and is house-trained.

Lucky loves to play and to romp about letting off steam with the people he trusts and loves. He has previously lived with children and would be suitable to live alongside children aged over 5 years as long as they were gentle and didn’t treat him like a toy by pulling his legs, ears and tail.

He appears to be friendly towards most other dogs, but doesn’t enjoy the company of rough, bouncy dogs because their behaviour frightens him. His attitude towards cats seems to be inquisitive and friendly rather than hostile, but he might well want to play with them and chase them about in fun, which not every cat would appreciate. He would be certain to chase after rabbits and other small animals, though.

Beautiful Lucky is a very special little dog and such a bright little creature that he needs owners who will see to it that he gets plenty of opportunities to use his wonderful Collie brain as well as lots of exercise to keep his athletic body in trim. He really is a gem of a dog with a sparkling personality and masses of love to give to his new owners.
