Maiya – 5 year old female Cavalier King Charles Spaniel

Maiya is a gentle ex-breeding girl who came to us from the breeder. She is aged around 5, possibly 6, years old and when she went for a health check our vet did detect a Grade 4/5 heart murmur. She will require a very quiet and patient home, with an understanding of ex-breeding dogs. Maiya will only be rehomed where there is a kind resident dog to keep her company and show her the ropes. Ex-breeders gain their confidence from other dogs as they would have had very little human contact. Maiya is fine around cats and lives with them in her foster home.

She can be a little nervous to start with but does enjoy human contact, including a good groom! Around sensible children she is fine and will sit with them patiently so we would rehome her with dog savvy children over six years old. Housetraining is a work in progress so this gentle guidance will need to be continued in her new home so she knows where to toilet. Maiya will jump at the odd loud noise but has adapted well to living in a home. She hasn’t been crated while left as her fosterer didn’t feel the need, and was fine left for around an hour with another dog for company. This is work in progress for Maiya as she wouldn’t have walked on a lead before or had to walk passed fast cars etc. Her new family will have to be prepared to work on getting Maiya used to the outside world at her own pace. In the car Maiya is fine. She lies down on the back seat and goes to sleep.

If you can offer Maiya the loving home that she needs then please get in touch. She is wonderful loyal lady who just wants someone to love and to be loved in return. Maiya is up to date with her vaccinations, flea and worm treated, microchipped and spayed. Potential adopters will be expected to travel to meet Maiya in her foster home in Crosskeys, near Newport.

If you are interested in adopting Maiya please read about our rehoming process and complete a Pre-Adoption form ( link here ) and one of our adoption coordinators will contact you for a chat.
