Marie is around 1 year old and is some kind of hairball breed. She is around the size of a English Cocker Spaniel, though she is very thin at the moment and so appears smaller than she will be, if that makes sense. There maybe some Bearded Collie in there or some Yorkie plus some Tibetan Terrier cross. I really do not now but whatever she is you won’t find a more beautiful mix for love nor money. She has plainly not always been treated kindly and is weary of people although she is not a nervous wreck. She appears quite suspicious of children and I just get the sense from her that all she wants is a quiet life, so dog savvy children over 10 years would be best for her we think.
I do believe that in a quiet environment she will very quickly learn to trust and develop a personality. She is eating here and she has stopped hiding upstairs. She is slowly learning that home life is actually okay and not quite so scary, she still needs to be helped with learning that people are not scary, she is now having cuddles off her foster mum and her foster sister, but she will still jump if startled and you have to work hard to gain her trust. She is clean in the house and can be left for short periods.
The lead training is progressing well & traffic is not a huge problem but approaching people still really scare her but she is starting to enjoy walks. The Romanian public shelter where we found her was awful, where a timid little thing like her was in grave danger from being attacked by other dogs. The matted skinny little mess that arrived has scrubbed up alright though I think. She is definitely a work in progress but will return the time and love given to her tenfold.
