Matty – 4 year old male Jack Russell Terrier

Magnificent Matty is a male Jack Russell Terrier aged approximately 4 years old. He arrived with us from an RSPCA Inspector having been seized by the Police from a drugs den; the poor little mite was petrified on arrival. Fast forward a few days and he is coming around nicely. We would be happy placing him in most home environments as he is a gentle lad but calm, older, sensible children, if a family come forward. He seems okay with other dogs but definitely no cats or small furries please.

This timid little lad is responding well to tender loving care and his confidence is improving day by day but it may take a bit more time for his true personality to emerge, as god knows what he has experienced or witnessed. You just can’t help but feel sorry for him at the moment, even though he is now safe, he is still a little timid at times but even though unsure, he is a gentle little fella and you can’t help but fall in love with him and his sad face! If you come to see him, don’t expect him to come running into your arms, he will need a little time to get to know you, once he does you’ll have a friend for life, as long as you can give lots of good, gentle strokes!

Matty does have some good training already in place; he does a nice sit and is pretty easy to manage on lead. What he loves most is gentle strokes and attention. Nothing too rough or quick or he gets frightened. Being a Jack Russell Terrier, we do expect him to liven up in a nice home environment, although at the moment he doesn’t seem interested in toys, he prefers human company and affection. He is looking for people who can give him the space and time he needs to become confident again, so if you are looking for a true rescue dog where you can make a huge difference to his emotional well being and change his life, well Magnificent Matty is definitely the boy for you!

All our dogs have a thorough veterinary health check and are micro-chipped, neutered, flea/worm treated and are fully vaccinated. They also come with 6 weeks free insurance. Home check and minimum donation of £165 applies. A securely fenced garden is a must.

RSPCA Essex South West
The RSPCA Essex South West Branch is, like all RSPCA branches, an independent charitable trust. As such, it has to be financially self-supporting – in other words it has to raise the funds it needs to support its animal welfare activities. The Branch covers an area ranging from Dagenham & Barking in the South to Epping & Nazeing in the North, Waltham Abbey to the West and Abridge to the East. Although we do rehome our dogs to all other areas. The Branch is run and staffed entirely by volunteers. The main activity of the Branch is in rescuing and finding new homes for companion animals that for a variety of reasons are either homeless or cannot stay with their present owner. We work in partnership with Goddard's Chingford Kennels, who board and care for our rescue dogs. All dogs who are rehomed from us will have their initial course of vaccinations, worm and flea treatments, will be neutered, microchipped and come with 6 weeks free pet insurance in conjunction with the RSPCA and More Than insurance company. In the last eight years (to December 2012) the RSPCA ESSEX SOUTH WEST Branch has re-homed approximately 2200 cats and 1700 dogs. 220 dogs were re-homed in 2013.
