Max – 18-24 month old male Cross-Breed

Meet Max our loveable giant! He is possibly a Rottweiler cross Ridgeback, but this is not known for certain. Max is excellent with people and very affectionate so will make a very loving companion. He has not yet been tested with children but due to his loving nature may possibly be ok with older children, but would not be suitable in a household with young children that could be easily knocked over by this large boy. Max is looking for an experienced owner that is used to dealing with large breeds and is willing to carry out ongoing intensive training, as he did not receive much training when he was younger.

Max will need some basic training such as ‘walk to heel’, as he currently pulls on the lead and tends to determine for himself which way he wants to go, but he will also require some more intense behaviour modification training. Max has possibly previously been shut behind a fence as when he sees a dog on the other side of a fence he can bark aggressively at the dog showing territorial behaviour and frustration. He does not seem to display this same sort of behaviour when outside in a park environment, so it seems that the fence is the trigger and is possibly related to his previous circumstances.

We are working hard on the training and so far Max has proved to be a very intelligent and responsive dog who is easily distracted and motivated by food and is very eager to please, however he will require a lot more training, so his new owner will need to be prepare to put in a lot of hard work and dedication. Max has also just been neutered so we may start to see a slight change in his behaviour over the coming weeks. It is suggested that Max attends dog socialisation and obedience classes to help with his training and Max’s new owner will also receive ongoing support from our team. As well as being neutered, Max will also be fully vaccinated, microchipped, wormed and flea treated,
