Max is a gorgeous 3 and half year old male Lhasa Apso. He was rehomed by our branch about 6 weeks ago but unfortunately has been returned. Details of this will be given upon making enquires about Max. Max is a friendly and affectionate dog, although he can be a little reserved in new situations and when meeting strangers or unfamiliar people. He enjoys being given lots of attention. He loves playing gentle games with his toys and enjoys his walks tremendously as well as chasing his ball on the field. He adores sitting in the sunshine, is very well behaved in the home and is fully housetrained.
Max does have some issues with food guarding and can be possessive of tasty items of food and treats. We have had a consultation with a behaviourist with regards this and been given advice as well as a training programme for food guarding. We will gladly pass on this information to his new adopters. Max needs to go to an experienced, tolerant owner who has the time for continued socialisation and reward based training with him. Please also note that a Lhasa Apso’s coat requires a great deal of grooming and daily brushing.
Max is not comfortable around children and has shown anxiety whilst in their company. For this reason he is not to be rehomed with children . It is also important that there aren’t any regular visiting children in his new home. He is not to be rehomed with other dogs. He has lived with cats in the past so could possibly go to a home where existing cats are confident around dogs.
