Meg – 10 year old female Lurcher
Meg is a very beautiful 10 year old Lurcher lady who came into Oldies Club care when her owners’ circumstances changed and they could no longer keep her. She is being cared for in an Oldies Club foster home in Oxfordshire, waiting for someone to offer her a permanent home.
Adorable princess: Meg is a loyal and undemanding lady who quickly captures the hearts of people who meet her. She has the cutest sable spots on her ears! Would like to live with another dog: Meg is sharing her foster home with 2 resident dogs and, as you can see below, is getting along famously with them. In fact, we were told by Meg’s previous owner that Meg needs to live with another dog otherwise she becomes anxious when left. Meg is fine with medium to large dogs who aren’t too boisterous and allow her her own space.
Needs a cat-free home with no small furries: Meg needs a cat-free home. She cannot be around other small furries such as rabbits either. Children of 12 years +: Meg could live in a household with children aged 12+ who would respect her boundaries and need for peace and quiet. Likes and dislikes: Meg likes walks, playing fetch, and playing with plush teddies that squeak. She doesn’t like being left alone or having lie ins!
At home: Meg is clean in the house and likes to sleep on the sofa in between her walks. She needs someone home the majority of the time as she does get a little anxious when left until she is used to her surroundings. At first Meg attaches herself to men more than women, but will love anyone who gives her a cuddle and a tickle behind the ear. She does love her cuddles and can become quite vocal when she wants them! Care needs to be taken not to leave food unattended on tables or worktops, and she will rummage through bins given half the chance. She is slowly learning though, bless her.

Out and about: Meg needs about 1-2 hours onlead exercise a day. She can only be let off lead in a secure area with high fences. She has a high prey drive so will give chase to cats, livestock etc. She happily trots by your side on the lead and is not distracted by dogs. Meg is absolutely perfect in the car. She gets in and out with no problem, and once in the car lies down and goes to sleep.
Meg’s perfect home: Meg would prefer a quiet home where someone is home most of the time to give her all the loves and cuddles she deserves. A home with no cats, but perhaps with a larger, quiet dog for company and cuddles would be perfect. She will slot into a suitable home with ease.
Health notes: Meg is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and flea- and worm-treated. Meg was underweight when she came into our care but she has a healthy appetite and is gradually gaining weight. Her teeth were also in poor condition when she arrived and she has had to have 6 teeth extracted. She can eat smaller kibble without too much of a problem but would struggle with things such as bones. She needs regular tooth brushing and there is a possibility that she may need to have 4 more teeth extracted at a later date if her gums do not recover.
Meg’s foster carer sums her up: Meg is so quiet it is hard to remember she is in the room sometimes. All she asks for is a slot on a sofa. In return you will get the most loving character whose antics will have you giggling for hours. I cannot think of a single fault for this gorgeous girl. Do you have a Meg shaped hole in your heart?
