This is our beautiful girl Megan. Megan is a a wonderful 3-4 year old Rottweiler cross Labrador. She has a wonderful nature and is a true cuddle monster being very loving and affectionate and just can’t get enough love. Poor Megan came to us through tragic circumstances where her owners felt that they didn’t want to just dump her loose, but also were just too embarrassed to knock on the door or phone us. They tied up her outside Yasmina’s house late one night on an exceptionally freezing night in early January, where there was no doubt she would have frozen to death.
Fortunately, Yasmina just happened to check outside her door at just before midnight, and there she was, shivering with cold, very forlorn, sad and unloved. A very poorly Megan then spent the next week hospitalised at the vets with pneumonia. Since that terrible early start with Lea Valley Dog Rescue, Megan made a wonderful recovery and is truly enjoying life and is such a joy to have around.
Megan is a very affectionate girl who is extremely well behaved in the home. She is housetrained and can be left on her own at home for a number of hours with no problem at all. She loves her chews or bone and loves playing with her toys. Megan also loves to lie in the sunshine in the garden and stretch out. Do you have that sunny spot for her? Megan has a brilliant temperament, is good with other dogs and interacts well with all the foster dogs she is at home with, young or old. She also loves to go for nice walks, although get very excited with this and tends to pull a bit in her lead.
However, we feel with the right person and some training and regular exercise, she will calm down a lot as she really wants to please you. She is also good in the car if you just want to take her somewhere a bit more interesting like a field! We have waited to advertise Megan as we did not know if she was spayed or not, and since she had been so poorly when we got her, we did not feel that we could just open her up to find out . On the other hand, we could not let her go to a home un-spayed. As she has been with us for eight months now, we can assume that on the balance of probability, she has been spayed. She is also micro-chipped vaccinated, wormed and flea treated.
Megan would love to find her forever home with someone who will appreciate the qualities of this very special girl. Although Megan’s temperament is brilliant and we cannot fault her, as with any dog we do not have a full history on, we will not home her with children. However, teenagers and young adults or dog respecful visiting children should not be a problem.
Whoever adopts Megan will have a very special friend indeed and we look forward to her new owners having many happy years ahead with her. Megan is fostered in North London near J25/26 of M25. For home checking purpose, we favour applications from prospective adopters who reside in London area or Home Counties although we will consider enquiries from further afield for the right home.
