Milo is a 2 year old male Shih Tzu. Milo originally came to us in February following a relationship breakdown. He was adopted in March but has unfortunately been returned for biting. In his first home Milo lived with children and had never bitten before, however the bite in his last home appeared to be completely unprovoked and so we are looking for a very experienced, adult only home. The circumstances surrounding the bite can be explained in more detail should you wish to inquire about him. When Milo first came back to us he spent some time in the office with the staff so that we could learn more about his behaviour. We have found him to be quite a stubborn boy, who will let you know if he is unhappy about something! He will generally give a warning growl but if this is ignored he may snap. Despite this he is also quite affectionate and will happily sit on your knee for a good fuss. He has been groomed in the past without any issues and is generally okay being handled.
At the moment Milo is slowly building his confidence up on walks and may be reluctant to go at times. He has met some dogs whilst on the lead and been okay but can be reactive to others. He will need to be the only pet in the home. Milo will benefit from a home with an experienced owner who is familiar with aggressive behaviour in dogs. He cannot be homed where there are any young children, including visiting children or children planned for the future. He will need settled circumstances in a calm and quiet home. Anyone wishing to adopt Milo will need to make several trips to and from the rescue in order to form a bond with him before adoption.
