Mirri is one of our “special dogs”. She is just under a year old and a small breed, possibly Chihuahua or Pekingese mix. I don’t really know where to start with describing her to you all. She was abandoned at a very early age in a forest in Romania and I am sure that prior to her abandonment she encountered nothing nice from humans. She was free for a few months but eventually she was caught and taken to safety. Being too small to survive a shelter she lived for a while in an office with another very scared dog where she started to become accustomed to human presence but unfortunately did not progress noticably because there was nobody to spend any real time with her. She came to us to carry on what they had started & to say we didn’t have the best of starts would be truthful!
Just to get her off the transport van was an ordeal and we had a love/hate relationship for a week or so. However, once we got out walking we soon developed a bond, it is fair to say that she really makes you work for her love and trust but every little achievement is more rewarding than I can explain. She is loving, loyal and quite honestly makes you want to cry because it shouldn’t be this hard for her to trust humans, she shouldn’t be this damaged.
Mirri will need another confident dog to live with and loves to play with two of the dogs in her foster home that are not dominant. She will need someone with the patience for her to trust you and to be prepared as if she is scared she may snap. She is living with a family of 5 at the moment and is one of 5 dogs too, there is a cat but she has not seen it much. As you can see from her pictures she has a cast on at the moment due to a broken hip that she sustained whilst playing in the garden here. The hip has been operated on but shouldn’t cause her any future problems although she may have one leg shorter than the other.
