This very handsome boy is Nero, and sadly through no fault of his own he is having to be rehomed. Nero is living in Gloucester. He is 4 years old. Nero’s a Terrier-type and small-to-medium in size. He weighs about 12kg. He isn’t very tall (approximately 14 inches, paw to shoulder) but has a long body (19 inches from shoulder to base of tail) and is strong for a little dog.
Nero is a very friendly little soul, but he can be shy and wary of new people. It took a while for him to settle with us but once he’s confident, he has a lovely personality. He loves walking everyday, but is happy with either long rambles or a couple of quick walks around the block. He’s always super-excited to go for a walk and does still pull on the lead at first, but soon calms downs once we get going. He’s friendly with other dogs, although he can be a bit excitable when he first meets them. He likes playing with his squeaky toys and having a mad session tearing around the garden. He’s equally happy lounging around in the sun.
Nero’s good with children and lives with a 6 and 10 year old. He cannot be tested with cats, so I am afraid we cannot rehome him in a home with cats or small furries. He would benefit from ongoing training. He knows basic commands like ‘bed’, ‘sit’ and his name, but his recall isn’t fantastic. He will come back to you if called, unless he has spotted another dog to play with. He’s also a devil for chasing squirrels. He’s doesn’t mind being left alone for short periods and isn’t destructive. He is a very quiet dog about 99% of the time but that being said – and despite my best efforts! – he’s a typical terrier and will bark at the door bell and despises the window-cleaner!
Nero came over from Romania in June 2017 (aged 3) where he had lived in a private shelter in Buchares for at least 7 months. Prior to this, he had been mistreated by his former owners. Neutered, vaccinated and chipped. Homecheck and adoption fees apply.
