Oliver - 3-4 year old male Lurcher

The beautiful Oliver is a 3 - 4 year old Lurcher boy who came into our care recently after one of our volunteers was notified by their neighbour that he had been abandoned and thrown from a car. This photo was taken when he first arrived and he was quite thin but has since put on weight. Oliver had an old injury on his leg that was heavily infected and needed quite major surgery. A lot of flesh had to be cut out and also his main vein had to be cut and restitched as the damaged flesh went around it.

Oliver is currently in foster with 5 other dogs. 3 males and 2 females. All of the males in the house are quite dominant and one especially and Oliver has handled very well being around them. He is good with other dogs after careful introductions but can be a little growly at first and doesn’t like the bouncing in his face.

Oliver is almost fully house-trained but does still have the occasional accident as he wont ask to go out, putting him out regularly means he is clean and he is clean overnight.

Oliver walks like a dream on lead and so far hasn’t reacted to any other dogs he has seen or cats and with the occasional squirrel has just looked then looked away.

Oliver had to do the necessary 7 days in the local stray pound so did have kennel cough when he first went into foster. This is now clearing up, since then Oliver has started to come out of himself and is much more playful equally with the other dogs and toys.

We feel Oliver would be happiest in an environment with at least one other dog but would possibly adapt to being an only dog with someone around all or most of the time to settle him in to begin with. Oliver is quite a tall boy around 28 inches and really is quite beautiful. Oliver is flea treated, de-wormed, micro-chipped, vaccinated, KC vaccinated and castrated.
