Oscar – 6 month old male Cross-Breed

Oscar is a 6 month old male Cross-Breed. Oscar is a really loving dog who enjoys attention from everyone. He is good at the groomers and the vets and even loves being bathed after he’s rolled in something he shouldn’t! He loves to lie on the sofa in the evenings snuggling into a fleecy throw with his fostermum and lie at her feet when she’s working on the computer. As he is still a young dog, he gets excited and a little rough when playing. He is learning the word no and will need further training with this, so children aged 10 and over only please.

Oscar is very sociable with other dogs and loves to play. He can be a little rough with submissive dogs but is improving with consistent training. He will take a telling off from the two resident dogs in his fosterhome when he needs it. He has some guarding issues at feeding time so is fed separately from the other dogs in the home though he will take treats from your hand nicely when he is with them. He is also slightly dominant over toys with other dogs but this can be worked on. Oscar is not good with cats or livestock as he has a strong chasing instinct.

Oscar is a pleasure to have around the house. He is 6 months old so is teething and wanting to chew. He has been known to chew furniture which is being discouraged by giving him plenty of toys and chew sticks. He is fine to be left alone for short periods in the day in his crate though he barks a little at first he soon settles. Full time workers would not suit this lad. At present he sleeps in a crate outside the bedroom door with the other two dogs close by. After his last trip to the garden at night he knows to go straight into his crate to settle down to sleep. He is very good in the night and is just about fully housetrained. Oscar is inclined to go under fences so a secure garden is needed!

Oscar walks well on a lead. He pulls a bit but it is only youthful exuberance. His recall needs work but should improve with training. He loves walks on the beach and after a walk around the woods he jumps in the shower as soon as they get home and waits for fostermum to shower him! He’s a very intelligent dog who likes to please. He travels well in the car in a crate on the back seat.

Oscar is a young confident dog with a great deal energy. He will need consistent boundaries and lots of patience to continue the training the foster home has started. He will need a large amount of exercise and an energetic owner who has lots of time for him. Oscar is chipped, vaccinated and up to date with his flea and worming treatment. Potential adopters will be expected to travel to meet Oscar in his foster home in Cardigan, West Wales.
