This stunning amber-eyed girl is Paloma who is a Podenco aged 4, in foster in Lancashire. Paloma is settling well and gaining confidence in the house. She walks well on the lead but can be nervous out on walks; she is currently timid when meeting new dogs and people. Due to her breed, she is not suitable to be homed with cats. Lovely Paloma is a sweet girl who would need someone willing to work on building her confidence. Her approximate date of birth is April 2013.
Paloma is a Podenco, which is a Spanish hunting breed, who like many others was abandoned and cast aside after a hunting season, no longer required by her owner! This poor girl was found in on a dirt road near a farm – she was terrified, starving and dehydrated as she had been out in the full sun without water and very little shade. Our rescuer managed to get her to trust us enough so she could be taken to the vets before she entered the refuge.
Podenc’s look very similar to a Whippet. For more information search online, and you will see that although bred for hunting these dogs are friendly, biddable and make great active pets. Paloma is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, wormed and deflead and has a passport.
