Pepper is a 9 months old Kokoni Cross. Pepper is a rescue from Cyprus who is currently staying on the Isle of Wight whilst she looks for her forever home. She is a lively fun loving young girl who is thoroughly enjoying her new life in the UK. She stands around 10 inches to the shoulder. We think she is part Kokoni Terrier. The Kokoni is a Greek dog and “Kokoni” means “small dog” in Greek. The breed has ancient origins and can be found on ancient artefacts such as vases, statues, figurines and coins.
Kokoni love human interaction and are fearless despite their small size. The breed is alert, lively, cheerful, smart and loyal. They are great companion dogs. Kokoni love to run and play, but with the proper amount of exercise can adjust to a small household and pretty much to your lifestyle. Pepper is a typical pushy puppy. She will need ongoing training and boundaries set for her as does any new puppy in your household. She is fantastic with other dogs but can sometimes be a little madam so we would prefer to home her with someone who is familiar with puppies and how to support and guide them into the fantastic family pets all puppies have the potential to be.
She would really benefit from another doggy playmate who is not a pushover as Pepper likes to get her own way! She can be reactive and a little nervous when out for walks but having a friend will really help her with this. She is very loving, and as she is still just a pup just like any other young dog she can be boisterous and playful. She hasn’t met any cats or other small furries so we don’t know if she will like them.
Since arriving in the UK she has been working hard at her house training. Pepper would benefit from joining a local dog training class as it would help her bond with her new family and learn the boundaries expected of her. If you live on the Isle of Wight 6 weeks free puppy training sessions would be offered through her current foster mum. She can be with children and other dogs. She is a terrific dog, who has a lot of potential to be the perfect best friend in her forever home. She has been vaccinated and microchipped. The minimum adoption donation for Pepper is £325.
