Peter – 2 year old male Bichon Frise

Peter is a two-year old Bichon Frise. He’s a loving little dog who likes to be close to you, cuddling up on the sofa or at your feet. He enjoys a fuss from people he knows as he hasn’t had the best start in life and as a result finds it difficult to trust. He can be a little protective of the person he has come to love and needs help to overcome this. He can be scared of strangers and needs very careful introductions. He is only young and in time will find that all people can be kind to him. A home with no children or visiting children is a must. Peter shares his food and toys with the other dogs in his foster home. He loves running around with them and is starting to play. He does prefer the company of bitches to dogs but would be better as an only dog. We don’t know how Peter would react to a cat, but due to his personality we would say no to cats.

Peter can be left for short periods of time with no problems. He will benefit from training classes to help him overcome the few difficulties he has. He tends to bark at the window or front door, getting over excited. As he starts to realise he only has positive experiences now, this should become less with the help of distraction and training. He is house trained. Peter loves his walks and gets excited at walk time. He now stands to have his harness and lead put on. He can get a little fixated on smaller dogs while on a walk but with perseverance from his foster mum this is getting better.

Peter will need a very special home to train him with kindness and patience and continue the good work his foster home has started. A good routine will help him feel safe and secure and will see his behaviours lessen and hopefully cease in time. He needs a sensible adopter willing to give him a few days to trust them, to take him to training classes and believe that he will become the little dog he should be, enjoying time with them and loving his walks as a carefree little chap.

Peter is neutered, chipped, vaccinated and up to date with his flea and worming treatment. Potential adopters will be expected to travel to meet him in his foster home in RCT, South Wales.
