Phil – 3 year old male Staffordshire Bull Terrier
Phil is a 3 year old male Staffordshire Bull Terrier who has been in the care of the Inspectorate for several months now after finding himself in a hazardous and terrifying situation at home-information will be provided by the re-homing coordinator. The Inspector asked if we could take Phil into one of our foster homes and re-home him as he didn’t want Phil to be in the kennels any longer. Phil is a healthy, bright dog but his eyesight is very impaired so is classed as blind; he can see shapes and movement. He is fully vaccinated, micro chipped and castrated.
Phil is a very chunky traditional Staffy, absolutely gorgeous and so very cuddly; he is a very friendly and affectionate boy. He copes with his disability extremely well. You don’t need blind dog experience (although that would be the ideal!) as Phil’s fosterer has never had a blind dog and she’s not had any problems at all, in fact she said out of all the dogs she’s fostered Phil has been the easiest!
Initially he bumped into things, then once he knew where everything was bingo!
Phil is looking for an understanding owner who will give him the time to settle into his new environment and gain his trust. He isn’t keen interacting with other dogs. He needs a home without too many obstacles where there are no major roads nearby; he wouldn’t suit a built up urban area.
Phil needs to be the only pet, we’d consider a home with older children who respect the fact that Phil is blind,
a calm environment is ideal.
He absolutely loves his cuddles and tummy rubs, he’s a very affectionate Staffy, he sometimes does a Staffy growl to get your attention and will nudge you big time for some love; so typical of the breed.
His fosterer has been playing various games especially designed for blind dogs which he loves and he’s very quickly learnt to ‘roll over’ on command as the video shows.
His party trick is that he can open doors so you may wake up with him sharing your bed of a morning! So please don’t let his blindness put you off, he is a lovely snugly dog with so much love to give.
What the Inspector has to say about Phil:
“Phil is ace, really friendly. He is lovely; the staff at the kennels loved him, he was a favourite and a pleasure to have around. He’s one of my all time favourites.” Phil deserves a bit of extra attention and is looking for a very special person to offer him a new home – is that you?
