Pixie is an 11 year old Chihuahua cross Pug girl who is in a foster home in St. Leonards on Sea, East Sussex, waiting for someone to offer her a permanent home. This adorable little girl is sweet and sociable and she settled at her foster home immediately. However, anyone interested in Pixie does need to know that her housetraining skills aren’t the best. Her foster carer has gone back to basics, but there has been little improvement. Medical causes have been ruled out by the vet and so it seems that Pixie is simply used to weeing indoors.
Pixie therefore needs a patient owner with hard flooring that can be easily cleaned up without any fuss or reprimand, while still persisting with kind training, encouraging her to go out regularly and rewarding her for weeing outside. Pixie is currently living with other dogs and is fine with them. Pixie takes no notice of her foster carer’s cat. Pixie is happy to be around children but she doesn’t like to be chased around. She is therefore best with children aged 5 years upwards.
Pixie would love to live with a retired couple (or single person) with the time to devote their lives to her. She needs someone calm and patient who is happy to continue to try to housetraing her kindly, but also happy to accept that she might never be housetrained, and who has easy-clean flooring.
Pixie is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, wormed and flea treated. She has had a dental. She has had colitis but this is now under control.
