Poppy

Poppy is a 3 year old female Jack Russell Terrier cross who came in to Battersea Dogs & Cats Home in November 2005.

Poppy is a bouncy, energetic, friendly dog with a slightly anxious, insecure edge who is besotted with toys and will do anything for them. Poppy has shown a low tolerance towards other dogs and spent time with the Behaviour Unit at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home in order to investigate these behaviours further.

Poppy is looking for owners that have had experience of dogs-to-dog issues before. Due to Poppy’s high intolerance levels around other dogs, a semi-rural or rural environment with a low dog population is essential. A calm, adult-only household would best best suitable as Poppy can easliy become stressed with a constantly changing environment, so unfortunately no kids or visiting kids. However experienced older teens will be considered. A garden is essential for basic training, an area to provide mental stimulation and a place for Poppy to potter about if she feels overwhelmed.

Owners must be prepared to listen to and take advise from the Behaviour Unit and be prepared to follow an ongoing training programme advised by the team.

Poppy is a fantastic dog that, with dedicated owners and in the right home environment, will make a wonderful companion.

Poppy is at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home London. Please call the Behaviour Unit on 020 7627 7884 if you are interested in Poppy or email us on behaviourrehoming@dogshome.org and quote ref 2005/05552
