Prince

Prince is a handsome 4 1/2 year old white and fawn Greyhound boy. He is the kennel’s best football player and if you throw the ball up in the air for him, he waits for it to rebound off the floor and then he will jump over 6′ to catch it in mid air.

Prince continues to mark quite a lot outside, paying particular attention to cover a female’s scent. In the garden, Prince is a delight. Off lead, he engaged in play with both Greyhound Stripey and Sid, the Staffordshire Bull Terrier. Prince showed impeccable manners with the toys, sharing without jealousy or fuss. Prince had a quick sniff around the kitchen but didn’t scent mark at all.

This hound has made such progress in terms of confidence now and he is a pleasure to take out for a walk. Prince can’t travel without a bit of initial whinging and singing but he’s fine and settles quickly. The lovely thing about Prince is that he is such a gentleman and would learn to fit in with new owners quite quickly, he soon picks up subtle clues and responds well when asked to stop, slow down, and turn etc, when out walking.

He seems relaxed in the company of other dogs and on all of his days out he has been fine with other dogs and also seems okay with children. Prince walks well on the lead; he doesn’t pull and is happy to go at whatever pace you set. Prince has also started to chatter when he’s in the kennels, which you can’t fail but to smile at!

We did try Prince with a cat once and he was fairly interested, but we think with correct handling he could possibly be taught to live with a cat, if not entirely cat friendly. Prince would probably be best suited to a middle aged, quiet couple who like to play and have fun and can spend lots of time doing Prince stuff.
