Pumpkin – 8-12 month old male Staffordshire Bull Terrier

This little boy is so sweet I could just eat him hence why I call him Pumpkin Pie, he’s a Staffordshire Bull Terrier aged 8-9 months old. In his short life he has been to hell and back yet he still adores people once he gets to know you and loves to be cuddled. When we collected Pumpkin he was a little scared timid little thing but on the way home he must have realised we were not so bad and about half an hour after we got home he was playing football with his foster dad in the garden. He tucked into a lovely meal of scrambled eggs and a few biscuits after his game of football and has never looked back.

Pumpkin approached everything at the beginning with his tail right down between his legs as the world was so scary. But with the help of his foster brothers and sisters he realises the world isn’t such a scary place. His tail is up more now when we go for walks and the other day a lady in the street stopped to talk to him and he managed to wag his tail at her. This does not sound like a lot but is a huge achievement for him. Pumpkin gets on brilliantly with my 3 resident dogs, rabbit and cat although I think if truth be known he is a little scared of the cat so gives her a wide berth.

Pumpkin has very little fur and his skin was quite sore but with regular baths and evening primrose oil this should come back. Althoughnew owners should be aware this will not happen over night and will take time. Pumpkin is crate trained although whilst the fireworks have been so bad I have let him sleep at the side of my bed on a blanket. Not a peep is heard from him until morning apart from his low snores.

Pumpkin is a fantastic dog who for such a youngster has gone through so much, who ever the lucky people are who take on Pumpkin will get a fantastic dog. He is the best hot water bottle you could want over the winter months whilst watching tv. Pumpkin has been castrated and a donation will be required to go towards the continual running of the rescue.
