Rachel – 18 month old male Bearded Collie Cross

Rachel is an 18 month old Bearded Collie type. Rachel and her brother were abandoned at a lorry depot along with many other dogs. At some point or another each dog had their run ins with the cars there. Rachel had five puppies, two were killed before the family were rescued. Previously we brought two of Rachels pups over and successfully rehomed them, the other was rehomed by other parties, sadly her brother Petrus is still in Romania awaiting his chance of a better life.

Rachel is a very timid dog. Her reflex reaction to a humans approach is to duck away but actually when you get up to her and fuss her she does begin to enjoy it and I am sure that in time her fear of approach will diminish as she learns to trust.
Rachel shocked us all on arrival by taking to lead walking pretty much immediately. She now enjoys her walks, though it will be some time before she will be able to be let off lead but she has all the time in the world for that.

I would like Rachel to go to a home with at least one other dog, preferably a confident one that can show her the ways of domestic life. She cannot help herself, despite her fears she wags her tail when she sees us and is desperate to make that step, she just needs someone with the time and patience to see her through this. Of course this girl is going to get noticed, she is stunning and the sort of dog that will prove popular. Will all of those people still want her when they visit and she doesn’t leap into their arms?

It’s so important to see that Rachel is not now the dog she is going to be, in two months, six months or a year, she will continue to grow and trust and she will make an amazing pet but you’re re gonna have to give her that time to develop.
