Rick – 4 year old male Border Collie Cross

Rick is a super sweet 4 year old mixed breed small dog, a little Border Collie type. Like a lot of rescues he has had a troubled life but in a foster home has very quickly realized that he does indeed like his home comforts! He is not a big lad, about the size of a spaniel but lightly built and weighing just 10kg. Rick gets along with other dogs and is fine with cats but now that he has realized how marvelous it is in a home, he wants his family all to himself! So he is fine out walking but in the home he is possessive of his people. For this reason we think Rick would be better in a home without any other dogs and with no children under 12 years of age. He is a very cuddly, loving boy but we think he will never get used to sharing.

Rick originally had a very low positive blood test for Leishmaniasis but following a course of medication is now fine, although he should not be exercised too much as a result. However, that is not a problem for Rick because he is a very low energy boy. He likes nothing more than to sit with his people and chill out. Company, care, time and attention are what Rick is into. A loving home and a couple of fifteen minute walks every day with access to a garden will make his world complete. Rick is house trained and can be left for a few hours without any problems, he is a very quiet boy and is not destructive. He walks very well on the lead but does not have good recall, although this has not been a problem because he never strays too far from his people. He is an all round cute little dog who would benefit from being in a home where somebody is around a lot of the time to give him the love, attention and company that he so enjoys. He would ideally suit a retired couple or single person with no plans to climb the three peaks or take up power walking!

Rick is the most loving dog but he is not very active. He loves nothing more than to cuddle up on the sofa or the end of the bed and would be better in a quiet home where he can take it easy. A previous low positive test for Leishmaniasis, results of which can be seen by any potential adopter. A flare up is not expected but by way of assurance, Angel’s Kiss will cover the cost of any medication for Leishmaniasis should it be necessary. Otherwise in good health with no known health issues.

Rick is microchipped, neutered, fully vaccinated, up to date with flea and worm treatments and has a full passport. Angel’s Kiss only uses kennels for immediate rescue and emergencies, all dogs advertised for adoption have been fostered, so they can be assessed and become familiar with the normal sights and sounds in a family and a household. It is with fosterers that these troubled souls learn what it is like to live in a home, sleep on a bed, eat a decent meal and know what it is to be loved. Fostering is the bridge from the old life to the new. Rick is in a foster home in Shrewsbury. Angel’s Kiss homes dogs throughout the UK but potential adopters must be willing to travel to meet Rick at his foster home.

After a very rough life Rick has sadly and through no fault of his own, been through a botched rescue attempt by another organization. Angel’s Kiss have stepped in to find Rick the forever home he deserves and to give full rescue backup after adoption. For this reason we are especially keen to find that special place for him. If you are interested in adopting Rick please get in touch with us through this website. The adoption fee is £150 and we always require a homecheck. This is done through a national network of rescue volunteers and usually does not take more than a few days to arrange.
