Ricky- 2 year old male Lurcher

Beautiful Ricky is a 2 year old lurcher of around 22 inches so quite a small boy. He came to us recently from a stray pound environment. This beautiful boy is a pleasure to be around and steals hearts wherever he goes. He is such a naturally happy and playful dog and so far has gotten on well with all dogs he has met.

Ricky is currently in foster in York with two other lurchers male and female and gets on with them well. We feel that the best environment for Ricky would be with another young playful dog as he loves to run around and play bows and chases. Having said that he is more than happy to entertain himself with a toy if the current dog is not a willing playmate. He would possibly be okay as an only dog BUT would need someone around most of the time.

Ricky’s house training is coming on well and he is now left whilst his carers go to work and is clean, he does have a dog walker coming in to take him out halfway through the day. Overnight he is having a couple of accidents still but we are going to start trying with the crate just to break this habit. Out on lead Ricky will pull a little to get to where he wants but is biddable and if corrected it soon stops. We also feel that in time with a little recall training Ricky will be fabulous off lead as he is so eager to please and wants to be with you.

At the moment Ricky is having a slight second puppyhood so is mouthing but not hard all in a playful manner or to get you to come with him if he wants to go somewhere. This is being worked on but we feel dog savy children 8 plus would be better in a home whilst he gets out of this phase. Ricky travels well and adores his people and has at some point been trained as he has all his basic commands, sit, down, and is quite good at heel.

This boy has the capabilities to be someone’s heart dog, he is already good at basic commands and with a bit of love and tlc will be the most perfect boy. We are all more than a little in love with him. Ricky is vaccinated, kc vaccinated, treated for parasites, microchipped and has been castrated.
