Ripple – 2 year old male Greyhound
Ripple is a 2 year old Greyhound boy. He initially came into our care early last autumn at just 2 years of age. For a Greyhound he was very puppy like and although he came across as being overly confident there was an underlying nervous edge that made Ripple quite vulnerable.

Ripple was homed around end of October to a family who already have two of our dogs and was fine for the first couple of months. After that he began to have issues with the other male dog in the house who is a very subservient boy, because of this Ripple came back to us just before Christmas. Since then he has been under thorough assessment, firstly in kennels and then for this last 2 – 3 months in a foster home environment.
Ripple is now slowly starting to mature and his confidence is building. Although it has shown that Ripple is fine to spend time with other male dogs both outside and inside of the home he does feel uncomfortable being around them full time and therefore he needs to be rehomed with an older confident female or as an only dog.
At the moment Ripple is in foster as an only dog; although he is fine with this it is because his foster carers are very conscious of being consistent with him. If allowed to Ripple can be quite demanding of attention and has a little more get up and go than your average Greyhound male. For him to continue life as an only dog he would need to be with a family that understands if they lavish too much attention on him they could cause issues on a day to day basis being left. With the level of consistency he is currently receiving he is able to be left alone for around 4 hours. However if Ripple was to be rehomed with an established female dog, he is likely to settle in easily and cause very few problems.
Ripple travels well and generally walks well on the lead. He can still get a little puppy giddy on the lead and over excitable when small dogs are running lose but settles down again easily. He’s a lovely boy who adores his humans and would fit easily into most homes.
A note from his foster family:
Ripple has been with us since Easter and is a very handsome dog and very friendly towards people and he loves children. In the home he has been clean from day one and he enjoys his food, he never begs for any food when we are eating.
In the house and garden he can be very playful and has certain toys he particularly attached to. He has a liking for slippers and the odd cushion but he just takes them to his bed but never chews them up! He was recently introduced to a neighbours dog which was a Jack Russell bitch and they became good friends and play well together in the garden. Outside of the home when out walking, Ripple is very alert (as you would expect from a sighthound) but with increasing confidence he now walks past cats and other dogs without any problems.
As mentioned above Ripple would be fine in a home with a bitch or on his own, we are now able to leave him for longer periods of time, he has never destroyed anything in the home whilst we have been away. He is learning new commands all the time and has settled into home life after being in kennels for some time. He is affectionate dog and will make someone with, or without, a family a lovely pet.
Ripple is currently in a foster home in Staffordshire.
