Rocco is a fabulous, gentle dog. He is currently living in a foster home with three resident dogs, two adult male Collies and a Lurcher puppy along with three children aged between 6 and 13. He has slotted in beautifully. He is wonderful with the children and really thrives in their company. Rocco plays well with the other resident dogs and knows when to settle down when they have had enough play. He is particularly gentle with the younger dogs. When out on walks Rocco will happily play if another dog initiates it but can be a little shy. He is very happy to share his toys and the only time he doesn’t like to share is when he is out on a walk and finds a particularly nice stick.
Rocco loves his walks and lots of fuss, so an active home where he will get plenty of exercise and affection would suit him. He loves people and he would do well with a busy house to keep him entertained! Rocco is a big boy Rottweiler cross who is still a pup and as such he is still growing. He sometimes forgets about his size and can jump on people or just bounce around in play. He means no harm but there is potential that he may knock people, especially kids and elderly people over. Whoever adopts him needs to be strong enough to manage his exuberant size, tolerate his silliness and make sure he has space to run and play and keep working with his training.
Rocco is doing brilliantly with the basics, he walks well on a lead but even better with a Halti, he travels well and is housetrained. He is happy to be left at home for short periods.
As Rocco is still a puppy his adopter will need to continue with his training and Friends of the Animals RCT recommends that Rocco’s adopters is take him to puppy training classes to continue to improve on his good doggy manners.
Rocco is an amazing dog with a fabulous temperament who deserves the most loving of homes. Rocco is vaccinated, microchipped and neutered. Prospective adopters are expected to travel to meet him in his foster home in Staffordshire. If you are interested in adopting Rocco please read about our re homing process and complete a Pre Adoption form (link below) and one of our adoption coordinators will contact you for a chat.
