Rocky is one year old German Shepherd cross Labrador Retriever male in foster in Essex with Animalactiontrust. Rocky is a lanky not heavily built dog, he is extremely well behaved indoors and can be crated for short periods while you go out shopping etc. At present he is crated at night as when he came into foster he was not house trained! A terrible shame as he has learnt it so easily. But he lived in a flat with a disabled lady. Poor Rocky. This meant he was in a cage much of the time. Rocky loves other dogs, will chase cats but when confronted with one which hissed and stood it’s ground, he remained stationary. No further tests have been done.
Rocky has not a bad bone in his body but he is a little nervous of strangers at first, due to lack of socialisation. The same is true of children so we would say only children of 10 years plus. Rocky is a lovable gentle good hearted dog. He is being trained to leash walking using T Touch method and is doing very well. He travels very well and is taken in the car regularly. He loves a good butchers bone, and he loves to play. Rocky does sit indoors and at the kirb, he does lie down and he does bed and his training will continue. He will be neuterered or a voucher provided. He would quite benefit from a kindly and well mannered other dog as he is very youthful but quick to pick up from other dogs.
For instance he used to bark some people but from walking with secure older dog he has learned not to, in the main. He will need someone home for the first few months as he came in will so little socialization and was thereby so unsure of everything and did need someone about to reassure him. In under a week Rocky has made enormous strides and will make an excellent house dog and companion.
