Ronnie is on paper, a 2 and a 1/2 year old Lhasa Apso. But looking at him my suspicion is that his mum had a secret liaison with a Yorkshire Terrier when no one was looking. Sadly his owner passed away recently, his son lives abroad, and was unable to have Ronny, this is what he told us about him.
“Ronnie was bought primarily as company for my father. At the spry age of senior years, my father sought out a new life partner after the passing of my mother several years ago. I managed to convince him away from a Collie and to instead have a smaller dog who he could cater for. Ronnie has been a friend and ultimately a member of the family. I am truly sad to see him go but I have no option to keep him.
Whilst the pictures look of course cutesy and cuddly, Ronnie gives off a very different first impression when you meet him. He’s barky, and protective – which is essentially what he has been doing for my dad, guarding him and the house. As you can see from the pictures, once Ronnie gets to know other humans and dogs he’s fantastic! And around the house he is in fact the teddy bear that the pictures lead you to believe. He’s also good with kids (again when he gets to know them) as he plays fantastically with my 1 and a 1/2 year old son”.
We have found Ronnie to be a little shy when meeting new people, we have not seen the barking. Allowed to make friends in his own time, its takes just a few minutes, and then he shows his cuddly side. Ronnie walks well on a lead, we haven’t let him off, unless in a secure area as he is still a little unsure in new situations. is house trained and generally very well behaved. He travels well and seems to enjoy car rides. He clearly hasn’t been used to meeting dogs out and about and is a little nervous when meeting , particularly bigger dogs, again if they leave him he is soon comfortable and happy to join in with them.
Ronny is neutered, micro-chipped etc and is at the Sanctuary near Kidwelly. Potential adopters will need to be able to travel to the Sanctuary to meet / collect him, once they have completed the questionnaire, and a home check had been completed.
