Rosie – 1 year old female Lurcher
Rosie is a 1 year old rough coated Lurcher girl who needs a very definite home that completely understands her needs so please make sure you read and consider all of her rehoming needs before calling.
Rosie came to us around 7 months ago after being abandoned with a very seriously broken hip. Two procedures later she is now ready for homing and has had a femoral head and neck excision. The muscles are now starting to build up nicely after a second surgery but due to the amount taken she will always be semi lame. Greyhound Gap will cover any future costs to do with this leg as we totally understand that due to it being an existing condition that insurance won’t cover it.
We feel that Rosie’s make up is definitely Saluki and possibly Wheaten and Bedlington Terrier. Over the last 7 months we have tried repeatedly to let Rosie off the lead however after around 20 seconds play with the other dogs she will take off and will keep going! Sadly although she has bonded well with us and the other dogs she will not recall! This is how we feel she got hit by the car in the first place running from her then owners. This sadly means that lack of recall and bad hip combined Rosie must be kept on lead at all times! We will only home her to a family that we believe have completely taken in this information and are sensible enough to understand why it could be so dangerous for her to be trusted.
Rosie is good with dogs both big and small although caution does need taking when first introducing her to smaller dogs. She is quite bold and isn’t afraid of shouting at other dogs if she feels hard done by. She is totally non aggressive though it’s all just verbal. Rosie would not manage as an only dog and would be vocal and destructive, she and needs to be homed with at least one other dog. She is currently fostered as one of nine so also does well in a pack environment.
Rosie is not cat friendly but is great in the house and is fine to be left with the company of other dogs, she does need watching though as she is a bit of an opportunist chewer if given the chance and has had a munch on the plaster on the bedroom walls!
Rosie is fully housetrained, travels well in the car and is a very loving and playful dog. She will be an asset to any home as long as they understand her needs and are willing to make sure her exercise requirements are met safely and sensibly.
Rosie is vaccinated, treated for parasites, spayed and microchipped. She is currently based in Staffordshire.
