Rover – 3-4 year old Collie cross Labrador

Rover is a beautiful 4 year old Collie Cross Labrador. He ended up with us after he was taken into the pound in Swansea by a man, who claimed he had found him as a stray but the owner of the pound suspects that he was actually Rover’s owners.

While staying with his fosterers he settled in amazingly well and was calm and well mannered in a full house of 5 and with a dog.
He is a fast learner and is very quickly understanding the house rules like not going upstairs and not getting on the furniture. So we think he is a clever chap as well as loving cuddles and wanting to sit on your lap whenever he can. When out for a long country walk he was excellent both in the car and off the lead and walked calmly past cattle (after a little nervousness) and sheep. He has also met other dogs and although keen to play he has only been friendly towards them.

He has certain collie traits; the brains and the agility, but he can also be nervous when meeting new people so we feel it would be best if his new owners have previous dog experience and older children would understand his initial anxiety more easily. However please do not be put off by this as once he has got over those first worries you could not ask for a friendlier or more loving dog. It may also be that as he gets used to living in a family environment these anxieties will fade but it is too early to say at present.

Rover has had to go back into kennels because his foster home had a cat and Rover is not good with cats. We think Rover would do well in a quiet home, perhaps one to one, as he loves to sit with you and get attention.
